Love dumplings and eager to make them at home? Join us in this 2-hour dumpling extravaganza, where we’ll learn the basics of wrapping Chinese dumplings (jiao zi) and a sure-fire method for pan-frying them to crispy perfection. We’ll also learn a few different ways of wrapping wontons, then use them in a spicy Sichuan appetizer and a delicious wonton noodle soup.

Crispy pan-fried dumplings (meat and vegetarian fillings available)

Diana KuanAbout the Instructor
Diana Kuan is a food writer and cooking instructor who is currently working on a Chinese cookbook for Random House/Ballantine. She grew up watching her family run Chinese restaurants and bakeries in Puerto Rico and suburban Massachusetts. After finishing a culinary arts degree in New York and working in a pastry kitchen, she packed her bags and spent two years in China, where she taught cooking classes to travelers and expats and began the popular food blog Appetite for China (AppetiteforChina.com).

She has appeared on “The CBS Early Show” and WNYC radio in food and travel segments. Her writing on food and travel has appeared in The Boston Globe, Gourmet, Food & Wine, Time Out New York, and US Airways magazine. Now back in New York, she continues to publish Appetite for China while teaching cooking classes at Whole Foods and The Institute of Culinary Education.
