What is the Ted and Amy Supper Club?

What if I’m a vegetarian?
The chefs generally like red meat. And white meat. And fish. So you’ll see a lot of that on the Supper Club menus. But the chefs can be vegetarian friendlycarnivores. They can (and have) made vegetarian alternatives to some of the entrees. Just let them know when you RSVP and they’ll work to try to accommodate your dietary needs. (Some dinners are easier to make veggie friendly than others.) Also, if you have food allergies, let us know and we’ll try work around that too.

What if I need to cancel my reservation for dinner or a class?
If you can’t make it to a dinner after you’ve RSVPed, please email Kara at info@tedandamysupperclub.com. For dinners, if you cancel 48 hours or more before the dinner, you’ll get a full refund on your payment. Due to the food purchasing schedules of the chefs, refunds can not be made for cancellations within 48 hours of the dinner. For classes, sign-ups are non-refundable (except if we happen to cancel the class.) We use the number of sign-ups to confirm that we are running the class (if there’s too few sign-ups, we may cancel or do an additional promotional push.)

Is it true that the Supper Club is going al fresco?
Yes, it’s true! Once the weather gets nicer, the Supper Club grills and dines in the backyard, under the stars, from time to time.

I RSVPed but haven’t received a payment email yet, what’s up?
Sometimes I’m just slow at going through the RSVPs. But rest assured, I will go through them. Sometimes also I’m waiting for a bulk of RSVPs to come in and then I sort through them and tries to put together a balanced dinner crowd (ie. equal number of men and women, not all friends or repeat visitors.)

How will I know where to show up?
On the morning of the dinner (or the evening before,) you’ll receive an email with the location, directions and some info about your fellow diners.

Who cooks?
I do most of the cooking (see About for more about me) but I often have guests chefs- usually food friends, food bloggers, cookbook authors, and sometimes actual chefs.

I’ve been waitlisted? Why?
We usually receive more reservations than there are seats available. We try to go through the list and create the right mix of people- balancing the number of men and the number of women, give new visitors a chance, etc. Honestly, more women than men sign-up. If you sign up with a man (a friend, partner, sibling, whatever) you might have a better chance of grabbing a seat. Also, sometimes people sign up with 4 or 5 people. We tend to favor parties or 1 or 2 because we find it works better for the mingling, rather than having a large group of friends, and just a few other guests that are outsiders. Also, if you have a history of RSVPing and cancelling or not paying… you might be on the waitlist next time.

How often do you invite people off the waitlist?
All the time. We usually get one or two last minute cancellations a dinner. So we then go to the waiting list to fill the seats. Or follow Kara on Twitter @karamasi to hear of any last minute openings.

Can I be a guest chef? Or book a private dinner/event? Or teach a class?
Yes! Email me at kara@tedandamysupperclub.com and we can talk.

Anything else I need to know?
There’s a big cat, Guiseppe. And a small dog, Charlotte. They hang around sometimes during dinner. People with allergies generally are ok but just wanted to give you the heads up.
